The Aswat Ensemble will present two free concerts in Oakland and Menlo Park, focusing on the themes on unity, resistance, diversity and solidarity. The concerts are timely and essential, providing an opportunity to bring the various facets of our communities together through the uplifting power of the Music and the Arts,

In addition to the regular choir, Vukani Mawethu, three Mexican singers (Diana Gameros, Francisco Herrera and Lilian Herrera), two youth singers from the community (Sophia Bouzid and Naya Salah,) and last but not least, Lina del Robles and Cyril Drame. Performances will be sung in Arabic, English, Spanish and French.

The events will be free and accessible to persons with disabilities.

El Ensamble Aswat presentará dos conciertos gratuitos en Oakland y Menlo Park, CA, iluminando los temas de La Unidad, Resistencia, Diversidad y Solidaridad.

(En Español despues) Francisco Herrera is known for his powerful and inspiring songs sung at protests for the common good. He is a cultural worker who's dedication to these causes have bonded friendships throughout Latinoamerica.

In Fall 2014, Francisco Herrera will enter the studio to record his 7th album of original songs, but he needs your support to make this album a success.

Join Francisco and supporter at the public launch of this campaign with MC Cynthia Munoz-Ramos of Causa Justa / Just Cause. A mini-musical program featuring Miguel and Susan Govea, Rafael Herrera (Candelaria), and Liliana Herrera and local musicians will lend special musical offerings. Dorothy Payne, Jorge Argueta (invited) and Manlio Argueta (invited) will also read from their vast troves of poetic landscapes.

In Sept. 2014, Francisco plans to record 10 original songs that have yet to be put to tape. These songs represent the lived experiences of the millions of people struggling to build a better world for the 99%. Converting these songs into digital form will allow them to spread like pollen, infusing and inspiring justice struggles with their message of hope and possibility wherever the winds take them.
